In the shape of two boxes intersecting, the concept for this house was developed with a tight building budget in mind. In the lounge area, upside down trusses create a feel of spaciousness despite the low ceiling stud. Off the dining room, a study concealed behind pivot panels makes for optimal use of the space. Clearstory windows promote natural ventilation in the lounge area. Windows and doors are recessed into the simple lines of the building and clad with cedar to provide interesting visual features whilst helping avoid overheating from sunshine.
